KOJI, a new premium soft drink inspired by a traditional Japanese infusion process, has been introduced to the on-trade by a South West company, Future Drinks Ltd, to offer a healthier option for bar and café goers.  Producers of KOJI have created a new low calorie category in the growing soft drink market, which is currently worth £10 billion in the UK alone.

KOJI has 49 calories per bottle and is an additive-free, zesty and crisp lightly sparkling fruit drink.  It is available in two flavours in 330ml bottles: Lemon & Ginger and Mandarin & Cranberry with more delicious flavour combinations in the pipeline.

Future Drinks has secured listings for KOJI in 22 Lounge bars, five Cosy Clubs and nine Chandos Delis from mid October.  The Japanese inspired drink will then be available in nearly 100 quality outlets in the South West.

Tim Chater, who co-founded Future Drinks Ltd with Luke Sapsed, commented: “The selection of soft drinks available on the market at present is fairly limited, mostly to the sale of sugary or artificially sweetened drinks. We have designed a new infusion process to produce a delicious sparkling fruity product that is totally natural, healthy and easy to drink. The feedback from sampling and our pilot launch proves we have the flavours right.  KOJI has been enthusiastically received by the deli, bar and café trade in the South West and having listings with key players such as Loungers and Chandos Deli is a great start for our launch. We are supporting the brand with an extensive PR and marketing campaign as well as sampling events across the South West.”

Future Drinks is collaborating with Brothers Drinks, known for its famous cider brand, to produce and bottle KOJI in Shepton Mallet.

KOJI’s RSP is up to £2.75 and it is available in cases of 12. For more information see kojidrinks.com.
