Raising the deposit on a new home is a struggle for many would-be first time buyers. The good news is that leading housebuilder Willmott Dixon is offering to pay five per cent of the property value towards the deposit on selected new one-bedroom apartments at Brenley Park in Mitcham. With prices starting at just £159,995, this cuts almost £8,000 off the deposit giving more people a real chance of owning their first home.

Sue Gresswell, sales and marketing director for Willmott Dixon, says: “Mortgage lenders are demanding higher deposits, often 20 per cent or more, making it even harder for first-time buyers to raise the money they need. Our homes at Brenley Park are already great value but this extra help makes them even more affordable. Our offer is only available on selected one-bedroom apartments for a limited time and so it’s important to get in touch with us very quickly.”

Willmott Dixon tailors its incentives to people’s needs and for those who don’t need help with the deposit, for example downsizers, it is offering a high quality furniture pack with one-bedroom apartments, completely free. With all the essential pieces needed for a new home, this not only saves a substantial amount of money but takes away the hassle of organising furnishings.

Brenley Park is a great choice for those who need a home close to London, but without the high prices of the capital. Set in parkland, it offers the perfect combination of affordability, green surroundings and easy commuting.

The apartments are housed in linked buildings, each with its own private entrance serving just six homes. Every apartment is dual aspect and the majority have either a balcony or terrace with views over the parkland. These light, bright and airy homes are designed in a contemporary open-plan layout with the high ceilings and large windows that are Willmott Dixon’s trademark. The one-bedroom apartments are outstanding value with the same size living area as in the larger homes and a generous amount of storage space.

Built to the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, the homes are warm and energy efficient to keep energy bills down; green features include photovoltaic panels on the roof to generate extra electricity and for keep-fit enthusiasts, a green outdoor gym in the park is planned.

The nearest station, Mitcham Eastfields, is an easy 10 minute walk away and has regular direct services to London Victoria in 18 minutes. Alternatively, nearby Mitcham Junction provides Tramlink connections to Wimbledon in 10 minutes and West Croydon in 13 minutes.

Mitcham has a good range of amenities and there is plenty of green space to enjoy, including the 460 acres of wild grassland and woods at Mitcham Common.

Brenley Park is approaching completion and buyers can move into their new home immediately. Prices start at £159,995 for a one-bedroom apartment and £205,995 for a two-bedroom apartment, including carpets, flooring and kitchen appliances.

Brenley Park is a joint venture between Willmott Dixon and Notting Hill Housing, in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency. As well as apartments for private sale, homes for Shared Ownership and social rent are available through Notting Hill Housing.
