Miller Homes launches the chance to own a home with a view
Miller Homes’ new flagship development which overlooks Gateshead’s stunning Saltwell Park has seen four of its plots reserved in its opening weekend.
Following the announcement that the five-star housebuilder was to redevelop the former Gateshead College site to create 175 new homes, Miller Homes has been inundated with interest with over 650 people registering their details prior to its launch on Saturday (October 27 2012).
The Park View sales office on Durham Road is now open to the public and offers a mix of bespoke properties including one and two bedroom apartments and three, four and five bedroom homes.
House types currently available on the 9.77 acre site range from one bedroom apartments, with prices starting from £74,950, to the three bedroom Endcliffe townhouse, priced from £194,950, and the four bedroom semi detached Nunsmoor, with prices starting from £239,950.
A sustainable approach has been taken at the development with all homes being built to an improvement to the building regulations standard for this site, with a 10% reduction in the energy demand and CO2 emissions. In addition, working with its contractors, Miller Homes is providing over 90% of materials from the demolished Gateshead College buildings for reuse or recycling in order to reduce the impact on the local environment and the amount of waste going to landfill. This includes stonework from the original buildings being incorporated into the new development.
Towards the south of the site is the locally listed building North Dene House, which will be restored into seven apartments and the woodland areas will be retained and integrated into the development.
Miller Homes North East sales director Steve McElroy said: “Park View will offer a range of contemporary homes carefully designed to complement this historic area of Gateshead and which will make full use of the site’s spectacular views. This is a popular area for families and young professionals and this has certainly been reflected in the strong level of interest we have received at Park View so far.
“Anyone searching for a new home shouldn't delay in visiting the development on Durham Road to ensure they do not miss out on securing their new home. During our opening weekend we had over 250 people visit our sales office despite the poor weather, and with a number of the released plots already reserved these homes are in high demand.
“I am confident that with the variety and quality of the homes available at Park View, combined with the purchase incentives available on selected plots, will help house hunters of all ages to secure their dream home at this unique development.”
First-time buyers Fiona Leaf, 25, and Peter Brock, 26, are hoping to secure their first home at Park View after attending the development’s launch. Fiona said: “The fantastic location of Park View is what initially drew us to the development as it is in such a great area, surrounded by lots of amenities, and of course Saltwell Park.
“We are looking for a spacious, modern home that we can grow into and Park View seems to tick all the boxes, so it would be fantastic if we could buy our first home together on this development.”
