Recent research indicates that the job prospects for 18 year olds living in Thurrock are extremely positive compared to other parts of the country. The study commissioned by the Centre for Crime and Justice found that the likelihood of an 18 year old obtaining a full time job in Thurrock is 15% higher than the national average.

Not only are there plenty of job opportunities for young people in Thurrock but it is also the perfect location to get on the property ladder. At Family Mosaic’s Fort House development in West Thurrock, a single person earning just over £19,000 a year can purchase a 35% share in a two bedroom apartment for £46,725, based on a full market value of £133,500.

Lauren Nicholson, Head of Marketing at Family Mosaic explains: “Fort House offers a fantastic opportunity for first time buyers to get on the property ladder. Shared ownership is an extremely cost effective option, enabling purchasers on relatively modest incomes to buy a property an affordable price and in many cases for a lower monthly cost than renting a similar property locally. “

Buying under shared ownership at the development allows purchasers to buy the share of their home that they can afford (at least 35%), and pay a subsidised rent on the remaining share of the property. They can increase their share at any time, right up to 100%.

Each of the 11 apartments at Fort House provides affordable, generous accommodation with a high quality specification throughout, complete with parking. The properties boast an open plan kitchen and lounge area that opens onto a balcony, a spacious master bedroom and a separate bedroom for guests or family.

Other features include fully fitted kitchen units by Manhattan in Dakar with polished chrome handles and Welsh stone effect laminated worktops; stainless steel electric oven, hood and gas hob; Zanussi stainless steel effect washer/dryer and fridge/freezer. The bathrooms are fitted with stylish white suites, with glass shower screens and ceramic floor tiles.

Fort House is located on the School Fields development off London Road in West Thurrock, home to Lakeside - Britain’s top shopping and leisure destination with 250+ shops, restaurants, cafes and a nine screen cinema. Nearby is the Lakeside Diving and Watersports Centre for the adventurous, but for those who enjoy peaceful surroundings, there are marshland wildlife habitats along the River Thames with large areas of green belt countryside. Picturesque villages, with traditional country pubs surround this area, offering a relaxing living environment.

Just two miles from Chafford Hundred railway station, there are fast, direct transport links into the City and connections en route to the Docklands Light Railway, District Line, Jubilee Line and Hammersmith & City Line.
