Miller Homes East Midlands has welcomed a new report naming Bingham, Nottinghamshire, as one of the best places in the country to bring up a family.

Research carried out by Child Trust Fund provider Family Investments placed Bingham at number eight in the countdown.

The results were compiled after researchers looked at 67 different factors that are important to families. These included Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 4 results, local crime figures and property affordability. Lifestyle factors, such as parks and green spaces, and leisure centres, were also taken into account.

Miller Homes has two developments situated in Bingham – Dukesmead and The Vales. Commenting on the countdown, Paul Walters, regional sales manager for Miller Homes in the East Midlands, said:

“The Vales and Dukesmead have always been incredibly popular with families, with the local area being a big incentive to make a move. It has the ideal mix of green open spaces, excellent schools and a great choice of leisure facilities. The fact that Bingham is in easy commuting range of Nottingham and Derby is a bonus too. The recent completion of improvements to the A46 also means that traveling to Leicester is just as simple.

“As a housebuilder, it’s obviously rewarding for us to see that the affordability of housing was also one of the elements that contributed to Bingham’s success in the study.”

Staff nurse Jayne Farrington lives at the Dukesmead development with her three children and Bess the dog. She agrees that Bingham is the ideal place to bring up a family:

“The schools in Bingham are all situated within walking distance and are doing really well in the league tables, which is important when you have a growing family.

“We’re close to all the local amenities, which is great for entertaining the children, but the train station is also nearby, meaning that we can easily get into Nottingham or for a day out in London if we want to go further afield.

“Bingham also has a lovely rural feel, and there are some lovely walks in the area, which keeps the dog very happy.”

Amongst the family properties available at Dukesmead is the four-bedroom, detached Austell style home. Priced at £245,000, the spacious property has a large kitchen diner with French doors leading into the garden, and an en-suite master bedroom, complete with fitted wardrobes.
