According to a recent report by Yorkshire Building Society, an increasing amount of couples are looking for homes to grow into, with 82 per cent of first time buyers purchasing a ‘love nest’ with their partner. Couples and first-time buyers are no longer looking for a short-term buy, preferring to select a home in which they can settle and perhaps start a family. Annington Homes’ Whetstone development in North London ticks all the boxes for these young couples, offering a selection of two and three-bedroom properties at affordable prices.

The same report reveals that 79 per cent of first-time buyers aspire to purchase their first home with their partner, and 17 per cent choose a home with starting a family in mind. Angela Walsh, Head of Sales and Marketing at Annington Homes, comments: “We have received a number of enquiries from young couples looking to get their foot on the property ladder at our Whetstone development as they are ideal for those wanting a long-term home that offers space to raise a family if desired. The properties not only offer spacious rooms in a community environment, but also great value for money and potential long term growth.”

Mark Parry Branch Manager, at locally-appointed agent, Barnard Marcus, commented: “Since the recession, people are increasingly focused on finding a property that they can get maximum value from and live in for many years to come. Homes that can achieve capital growth have always been popular, but in recent months have become even more so, particularly since many people who previously bought more short-term homes are now finding themselves in negative equity.”

The Whetstone properties offer excellent access to the capital, making them extremely popular with those wanting to enjoy the best of urban life in a suburban setting. The properties are the first to be released at the development, having been renovated by Annington into a selection of contemporary family homes. The homes offer excellent value for money, featuring, newly fitted kitchens with integrated appliances, new bathrooms suites and new carpets throughout. Some of the properties also have a downstairs cloakroom and utility room. Residents also benefit from allocated parking; a feature that is increasingly rare in many parts of London.

The Whetstone development is conveniently located close to a number of local amenities. The High Road boasts a diverse range of restaurants serving cuisine from across the globe, as well as a variety of chain and boutique shops and cafes. As an additional perk of being outside the city centre, residents of the N20 postcode are spoiled with a variety of leisure facilities, with the North Middlesex Golf Club, Ravens Lawn Tennis Club and Friary Park all nearby, offering the perfect location for outdoor activities.

Whetstone residents are spoiled for choice with a number of excellent transport links. Totteridge & Whetstone tube station is close by, offering easy access into central London on the Northern line with journey times to Kings Cross, Charing Cross and Bank of approximately 29, 36 and 38 minutes respectively. The development is also well positioned the M25, M1 and A1 motorways and Luton Airport is approximately a 40 minute drive away.

The Whetstone properties start at £274,950 for a two-bedroom mid terrace house and £304,950 for a three-bedroom mid terrace house. For further information, visit barnardmarcus.co.uk or annington.co.uk.
