Local housebuilder Morris is encouraging first-time buyers in Warrington to take advantage of its Great Start scheme as new figures have been released showing that a quarter of potential first-time buyers think it will take them ten years or more to raise a deposit.

The figures, released by the Building Societies Association (BSA), also show that nearly a third believe things will only get harder in 2013.

Morris’ Great Start scheme – which is available at the Edgewater Park development on Thelwall Lane – has been designed to give first time buyers an affordable route onto the property ladder as it means that buyers only have to put down a five per cent deposit.

It also reduces their monthly mortgage repayments as they purchase their new home at 80 per cent of its market value.

Chris Minshall, regional sales director for Morris, said: “The BSA figures show that raising a deposit has been the biggest barrier to property ownership since September 2010.

“However, schemes like Great Start mean there has never been so much support on offer for people looking to take that first step and we urge as many people as possible to visit Edgewater Park to find out how they can benefit from it."

Morris is also offering furniture packs which include blinds and carpets at Edgewater Park to make things even simpler. The development is located next to the canal and is only a ten minute drive from Warrington town centre with easy access to Manchester and Chester via the M56.

There is a range of two and three-bedroom properties available under the Great Start scheme at Edgewater Park priced from £123,750.

For more information on the properties and schemes available at Edgewater Park, visit the sales office off Thelwall Lane, WA4 1GD (open daily from 10:30am to 5:30pm), or visit morrishomes.co.uk.
