Miller Homes East Midlands is aiming to show first time buyers in Lincolnshire how they can make it onto the property ladder for less than £64,000.

The award-winning housebuilder is holding a special weekend at its popular Deansleigh development on the northern edge of Lincoln, highlighting just how affordable home ownership can be.

Taking place on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 February, the event will focus on the FirstBuy initiative. Alongside Miller Homes’ team of property experts, independent financial advisors will also be on hand to offer free, no obligation advice and explain the options available.

FirstBuy allows those meeting the qualifying criteria to purchase 100% of a selected property, but pay just 80 per cent now, with Miller Homes and the Government equally funding the remainder in the form of an equity loan.

Homes available as part of FirstBuy include the one-bedroom Chaucer style property, which has a contemporary loft-style appeal, with a staircase ascending directly into the lounge from a downstairs hall. Other key features include an en-suite shower room, separate downstairs storage area and archway entrance to the kitchen.

Prices start from £79,950 or just £63,960 as part of FirstBuy.

As Julia Portington, sales manager for Miller Homes East Midlands, explains, there are often misconceptions about how much it costs to purchase your first home:

“A lot of people are guided by headline figures and don’t always realise the options and incentives available to them. We’re holding this event at Deansleigh to dispel some of these myths and show that property ownership can be flexible and offer value for money.

“Potential buyers should also remember that they may also be eligible for the NewBuy scheme, allowing selected properties to be purchased with only a small deposit of 5-10%. Participating lenders then provide a 90-95% loan to value mortgage for those who meet the qualifying criteria. That would mean that if The Chaucer was purchased via FirstBuy, the deposit could be as low as £3,198.

“There is a real buzz starting to return to the property market and we’re looking forward to showing people in Lincolnshire how they can be a part of it.”

Offering a range of one, two and three-bedroom properties, Deansleigh is situated in a desirable location just off Nene Road. With views over the Cathedral, the development is just 15 minutes walk from the centre of town.
