By 2030, one in three people in the UK will be over 55 – and as things stand, the supply of appropriate housing to accommodate this ageing population needs to rise by over 70% in the next 20 years.

Felicity Gentle, Development Sales and Marketing Manager of Viridian Housing comments: “While retirees in the over 55 age bracket are not necessarily ready to settle into a retirement village, they are looking for security.”

“We are currently working on a number of new developments to provide for those looking for an opportunity to secure a brand new apartment within a community that has all the facilities they need as they get older.”

At Halton Court, SE3 Viridian has just launched a collection of 20 contemporary two bedroom apartments for the over 55’s which benefit from all the on-site facilities of the established new homes development at Kidbrooke Village.

The Kidbrooke Village Masterplan encompasses an area of 109 hectares, making it one of the largest regeneration zones in London. Once complete, it will provide over 4,800 new homes, as well as all of the amenities, infrastructure and public space to make this a sustainable community. In turn this will spur on economic regeneration, create employment, opportunity and a higher quality of life, and attract further investment to the area.

The entire village stretches over 55 hectares of open green space, including Cator Park, a new landscaped park which forms a ‘green river’ through existing parks in the area. As well as simply enjoying the open space, the more actively inclined can also make use of the various sports pitches and tennis courts that are provided.

All properties have access to a range of amenities including a 24 hour concierge service, village hall, cafe bar, hair salon, internet area, spa bath, restaurant, gardening room, residents’ library and much more.

Every apartment at Halton Court has been cleverly designed to make the maximum use of the interior space, and features a high quality, contemporary style specification. Each property also benefits from generous private outside space in the shape of a large, decked balcony or terrace.

Much more than just an apartment building, Halton Court itself has a range of communal facilities including an on-site subsidised, waiter serviced restaurant, residents lounge, guest suite and two winter gardens on the fifth floor.

Halton Court is located in the Blackheath Quarter sector of Kidbrooke village, under a mile from Blackheath Village and an approximate 300 metre flat walk to Kidbrooke station and bus stand. From the station Lewisham and the DLR interchange is just six minutes away by train; London Bridge just 15 minutes. Bus services are currently frequent, and provide services across south east London to destinations such as Woolwich, Charlton and Greenwich.

In addition to Halton Court, Viridian are working on two other age exclusive developments, one in Cheam Village, Surrey and another in Royal Arsenal, Greenwich.

Prices for a two bedroom apartment at Halton Court start from £162,500 based on a 50% of a property with a full market value of £325,000. For further information, visit viridianhousing.org.uk.
