Caravanner wins Forester

30th May 2007 Print
Caravanner wins Forester Surprised caravan enthusiast, Frederick Wood, is celebrating winning a Subaru Forester worth over £27,000, after entering a national competition run in conjunction with The Caravan Club magazine to mark its centenary.

Readers were asked to return their entries, found in the magazine, in order to win a limited edition ‘Caravan Club’ Subaru Forester.

Mr Wood, of Goring-By-Sea, Worthing, admits that he entered the competition at his wife’s insistence, after two somewhat stressful holidays when their previous car had been unable to cope with the muddy conditions at the caravan site. On both occasions, their car and their caravan had to be towed off site by a more capable 4WD vehicle.

Planning to change their car this summer after four years, Mrs Wood decided to take a chance on The Caravan Club competition. After returning just one form to the magazine, they were lucky enough to be selected from over 100,000 entries.

In the two weeks they have had their new car, their Eldis Ashington has already been towed to Leicester and Taunton. So improved is the towing capacity of his Forester, Mr Wood says he hardly even noticed he was towing a caravan at all.

“My friends aren’t speaking to me,” Mr Wood jokes, “and they’re insisting The Caravan Club must have got the wrong postcode!”

Russell Hoare, Senior Sales Executive at Sparshatts, Chichester, who handed over the keys said: “The Forester is the ideal towing vehicle, and has won several

Caravan Club awards. This special edition Forester is the perfect way to celebrate their centenary, and is available to buy with detachable towbar, Bluetooth hands-free ’phone kit, front and rear splash guards and Caravan Club centenary branding.”
