Subaru helps raise £60,000 for Children’s Hospital Subaru together with its engineering partner, Prodrive, has helped raise nearly £60,000 for Oxford Children’s Hospital, beating last year’s total of £50,000.

More than 4,000 motorsport fans flocked to Prodrive’s second charity open day in Banbury, headquarters of the Subaru World Rally Team, where one of the prizes on offer was the use of a Subaru Tribeca SE5 worth over £32,000.

The lucky winner, Paul Slack, from Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, paid £5 to be entered into the prize draw for use of the vehicle until April 2008. Subaru has agreed to cover any servicing costs, whilst Paul will pay for insurance and fuel.

Paul said: “We attended the first open day as our 14 year old daughter, Hannah, is a huge Subaru and rally fan and this year even our younger daughter Amy attended so she could help to raise money for such a good cause. Hannah can barely wait until she’s old enough to own and drive her own Subaru.”

He added: “I currently run an Audi A6 and my wife Alison, has a Chrysler Grand Voyager but we are very excited at the prospect of driving the Tribeca until April. We have just returned from a two week holiday in Devon / Dorset and the Tribeca has been a joy to drive and has handled the twisting roads extremely competently.”

Tribecas are available in two 5-seat trim levels comprising 3.0 S5 and 3.0 SE5 and one 7-seat luxury-spec version, the 3.0 SE7. Standard equipment for all models includes dual-zone air-conditioning, eight-way powered front seats, front, side and curtain airbags, six-disc CD autochanger with nine speakers and MP3 playback and a leather-covered steering wheel with remote audio controls.

In addition, Subaru is currently offering customers five years’ free servicing, five years’ warranty, five years’ Home and Roadside Assistance and five years’ Zero Percent Finance.

Priced from a highly competitive £29,097 on-the-road, the Tribeca features a 3.0 litre 245 PS six-cylinder horizontally-opposed engine, five-speed automatic gearbox and full-time symmetrical all-wheel drive and Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control (SVDC).
