New Subaru dealer supports rally hero memorial event

20th September 2008 Print
Subaru’s new dealer for East Anglia - Hylton Gott Limited of Downham Market near Kings Lynn – has given its full support to the recent Richard Burns Memorial Rally.

The rally was held at RAF Marham and was a motor racing ‘first’ as Marham is a fully operational airbase. It was organised by the Kings Lynn and District Motor Club.

Subaru not only sponsored the event but produced two trophies which Dealer Principal, Stephen Tilburn, presented to the late Richard Burns’ father, Alex, and RAF Station Commander, Group Captain Colin Basnett.

Holder of the FIA World Rally Championship Driver’s title, Richard Burns made a close association with the base during his rallying career. He died in November 2005 from brain cancer at the age of 34.

The Richard Burns Memorial Rally was won by Markko Martin and former Subaru WRC co-driver, Robert Reid.

Well-known in the area, Hylton Gott is a family-owned business with more than 40 years experience in the motor industry.
