According to Shelter’s research on the private rented sector, many people have had a bad experience of renting in the private sector at some point in their lives, whether because of poor living conditions or an unscrupulous landlord.

Highlighted in its report published in February this year ‘The London Rental Standard’, Shelter highlights the private rented sector is the worst performing for housing conditions nationally, with almost 4 in 10 failing to meet the Decent Homes Standard. 40% of London renters have had a landlord or agent who did not deal with repairs. More than seven in ten Londoners surveyed agreed that landlords should have stronger and clearer rules to follow in order to protect renters.

With this in mind, Genesis is now offering a new rental service to provide prospective tenants ‘a better way to rent’, starting with apartments at its iconic Stratford Halo development. Addressing many of the issues identified in the Shelter report, renting from Genesis will provide longer tenancies, dedicated property management and better quality homes.

Rising to over 132 metres and 43 storeys high, the striking curvilinear tower of The Stratford Halo occupies a prime position within Stratford City. This is London’s most ambitious mixed-use development, covering 73 hectares, which will create a new £4bn metropolitan centre in East London.

With a range of one, two and three bedroom apartments available to rent at Stratford Halo, there is something for everyone. Each tenant benefits from access to a dedicated property manager and 24 hour concierge service. For an additional cost, tenants can also access a range of services on hand including apartment cleaning services, dry cleaning and short term furniture rental.

Designed for modern living, the apartments are available in a variety of layouts. Each home has a spacious open plan living space and its own private balcony. Interiors are finished with a high quality specification, including designer kitchens complete with Bosch and Indesit integrated appliances, and wood engineered flooring and carpets. An added benefit is lower energy costs as hot water is supplied by the Olympic District Heating System.

The development is set in fully landscaped communal gardens, which include striking water features, a riverside walkway and a children’s play area, providing an ideal place for everyone to enjoy the great outdoors.

Stratford has some of London’s best public transport links, so residents can enjoy a speedy commute into Central London, the City and Canary Wharf. It is served by the Jubilee and Central lines, the Docklands Light Railway and overland rail services, including the High Speed domestic rail link that will allow commuters to travel into Central London in just seven minutes. In future, Stratford will have a station on the Crossrail line, providing Eurostar services to Paris and Brussels.

Nearby is the recently opened Westfield Stratford City, Europe’s largest urban shopping centre. A host of other facilities and amenities, including schools, hotels, parks and health centres, are scheduled to be built as part of the comprehensive redevelopment of the area.

Prices start from £1,125 per month for a one bedroom apartment, £1,400 per month for a 2 bedroom apartment and £2,250 per month for a 3 bedroom apartment. To arrange a viewing, visit genesishahomes.org.uk/rent.
