Prodrive WRC2008 wins Scooby Sprint Round 2

28th May 2009 Print
Prodrive Terry Kaby piloted Prodrive's WRC2008 to its second Scooby Sprint victory at Round 2, in York last weekend. The all-Subaru field of private road cars and race prepared machines were once again unable to match the immense pace of the Banbury based motorsport giant’s flagship rally machine.

The top ten were separated by less than five seconds, with ScoobyClinic coming in second, followed by AFP Subaru, less than three hundredths of a second behind, who beat the Tracktive-supported Spec C of Rob North by less than three tenths!

"The competition is fierce at the front of the field," said championship owner Simon de Banke, "Everyone is smiling and enjoying the banter, but make no mistake, they're here to win! Look a bit further down the field and into the Standard road car class, and its a little more laid back, as most of the guys are enjoying being able to pit their Subaru directly against Prodrive's World Rally car, and just soaking up the atmosphere with a thousand or so other Subaru fans. I'm delighted with how its all going, there's something for everyone - as long as you have a Subaru!"

Even carrying the WRC turbo restrictor, Prodrive put in another flawless performance taking not only the win for 10 points, but also the top-five Showdown for another 3 bonus points. AFP Subaru move up into second place in the overall championship, ahead of Scooby Clinic. Tracktive solutions had to sit out this round due to technical issues, but retains their second place in the Constructors' Championship through Rob North's impressive debut appearance.

Kevin Horsley put in another commanding performance, further securing his lead in the Privateers' championship and taking fifth place.

James Holt and Shaun Fennings both won the coveted "Driver of the Day" prize for their great attitude and support of the event, and got their high speed ride in the co-driver's seat of the WRC car. Everyone else went home with sunburn and a smile on their face!
