Taylor Wimpey has received planning permission from the Royal Borough of Greenwich to create a new development of high-quality homes on the redundant former Montbelle Primary School site in New Eltham.

In addition to extensive pre-application consultation with the planning authority, the leading housebuilder has worked closely with neighbours and residents’ groups to ensure that its forthcoming Avery Heights development meets the needs and requirements of the local community.

Located on a 2.8-acre site between Montbelle Road and Domonic Drive, Avery Heights will comprise 43 traditional-style one, two, three and four-bedroom homes surrounding an attractive central green.

Demolition of the former school buildings has already taken place and work on the new development is expected to begin in May.

Chris Moore, Land and Planning Director for Taylor Wimpey South East, says: “We’re absolutely delighted to have received planning approval for our Avery Heights development in New Eltham, a scheme which we have taken great care to develop in close consultation with the local community.

“Previous applications for this site have been unsuccessful but we have taken into account comments received by local residents and elected representatives to make sure our latest proposal fits in with their aspirations for the area.

“Having received permission to begin work on this exciting new development, we are very much looking forward to starting construction and releasing the first new homes at Avery Heights for sale as soon as possible.”

Alongside the new homes at Avery Heights, which will feature traditional designs and architecture in keeping with the surrounding area, Taylor Wimpey will make a number of financial contributions towards local public facilities and infrastructure totalling more than £200,000.

These will include contributions towards education, local labour, community facilities, emergency services, environmental health and public safety.
