Post Office becomes the biggest accepter of contactless payment in Europe

Post Office is leading the way in payment technology with today's announcement that it has installed contactless payment terminals across 30,000 counter positions in its unrivalled network of over 11,500 branches across the UK.
 
The move makes the Post Office the biggest user of contactless acceptance technology in Europe allowing customers to pay for transactions of up to £20 using contactless cards and Near Field Communication (NFC) equipped mobile phones with a simple tap of their card or mobile phone at the counter position.
 
The Post Office is currently undertaking the biggest transformation programme in its history.  It is modernising its network to make it as easy as possible for customers to do business with it, with new open plan branches, increased automation and longer opening hours.
 
Nick Kennett, Director of Financial Services at the Post Office said:  "We are delighted that through installing these new contactless payment terminals across our entire network we can improve access to our services by making it as easy as possible for customers to do business with us.  These contactless terminals are part of our investment programme to improve customer service and reduce transaction times.

Contactless payment allows customers to pay securely by tapping their card or mobile phone over a reader at the point of sale.  With benefits of faster transaction speed, convenience at the point of sale and a limit of £20 per transaction, contactless payments are ideal for quick service with low value transactions.
