Halifax to open branches in Scotland

1st August 2013 Print

Halifax has announced plans to open branches in Scotland's biggest cities.

The first branch will launch in Aberdeen's Union Street by the end of this year, with new sites to open in Glasgow and Edinburgh by mid 2014. The announcement was made today as part of Lloyds Banking Group's half year results announcement.

The move, which is in response to customer feedback, is designed to give customers in Scotland greater access to Halifax products, such as its Reward Current Account, First Time Buyer mortgages and Children's Savings products.

Colleagues in these branches will provide advice and support on the number of ways that customers can bank with Halifax, such as online and mobile banking. The new sites in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh will also provide a full branch service to allow customers to service their accounts in person.

David Nicholson, Group Director, Halifax Community Bank says: "The Halifax is all about giving customers extra - that means extra value and extra choice. We know that these two things are very important to customers everywhere, and particularly in Scotland, where we continue to perform strongly.

"This move will give customers better access to our products and services. It's a great opportunity for us to make even more customers better off."
