Yorkshire Building Society announces further branch opening

11th September 2013 Print

Yorkshire Building Society has announced it is continuing its high street expansion plan with the opening of a new branch in West Yorkshire.

In the last 18 months Yorkshire Building Society has opened six new branches across Yorkshire, and on 30th September will be opening another new branch in Yeadon.

Yeadon is the Society's second new look branch, which benefits from digital technology, private consultation areas for members, and reference to local landmarks throughout. Harrogate was redesigned as the flagship new-look branch earlier in the year based on specifications from member feedback.

The Society's expansion on the high street will give those looking for a mutual alternative to banks in their own communities a wider choice and access to a range of good value financial products. The Yorkshire is dedicated to offering competitive mortgage and savings accounts, with more than 1,600 Best Buy products in the first half of 2013.

In addition to the latest branch opening, the Group is continuing to grow as it opens a head office in Leeds, which will see up to 1,000 colleagues based in the city centre, as well as investing £11m in its principal Bradford site, and £5m in head offices in Cheltenham and Peterborough.

Chris Pilling, Chief Executive of Yorkshire Building Society, said: "We are committed to enhancing the service we provide our members by offering the face-to-face service they want and value, whilst actively investing in the UK's high streets.

"We're very proud of our new concept branch design and are confident that it will provide a first class environment for our members to engage and transact, improving further our high standards and commitment to enhance the customer experience."

The Yorkshire's national branch network has grown considerably over recent years following mergers with Barnsley, Chelsea and Norwich & Peterborough building societies, taking the total number of branches from 135 in 2008 to 230 today.
