Greenland Place, Barratt London’s new development at 35 Evelyn Street, London, SE8 5RT, offers 562 studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments spread over five low-rise buildings as well as a 19-storey and a 22-storey tower. Located next to Greenland docks, the area is undergoing major regeneration, bringing new shops, leisure facilities and transport links. Located near Canada Water and vibrant Bermondsey, the best of London is right on your doorstep. Prices in this contemporary mixed use development start from £250,000 for a studio apartment.

Respected London design firm RMA Architects, which specialises in the design and regeneration of waterside and urban brownfield sites, has designed the development as a series of perimeter blocks, mews, courtyards and squares, creating an attractive new residential neighbourhood. Most of the homes have balconies and all will be able to enjoy the landscaped courtyards and water features. The first phase of the development launches in September 2013, with first completions from June 2014. The entire development is scheduled to be completed by July 2018.

Residents will enjoy all the luxuries that come with new development living, including a fitness suite, 24 hour concierge service and cycle parking. For day-to-day amenities, the nearby Surrey Quays Shopping Centre has a large 24h Tesco store and a choice of high street shops. The Seven Islands Leisure Centre is nearby and there is also a cinema and a selection of local bars and restaurants in the area. Canary Wharf and nearby Shad Thames provide residents with over 200 shops and riverfront bars and restaurants.

Greenland Place includes 6,500 sq m of commercial space, including a new business centre, which could offer some residents the convenience of working adjacent to their own home. For those working in other parts of London, Greenland Place is conveniently situated just a short walk from Surrey Quays DLR station, providing public transport in just minutes to Canada Water, London Bridge, Canary Wharf and the City. Residents can also hop on a ferry at Greenland Pier and be at the Canary Wharf Pier in 15 minutes for boat links to the O2, Europe’s largest arena, and beyond. The nearest cycle route, part of the Lewisham Cycle Network, runs along the bank of the River Thames via Deptford Wharf and Deptford Strand to the east of the site. Evelyn Street has been identified as part of the London Mayor’s planned Cycle Superhighway.

The area has benefitted immensely from the improvements to nearby Borough, Bankside and London Bridge, especially with the Tate Modern, The Globe and the Millennium Bridge in such close proximity. Southwark is undergoing extensive regeneration and Canada Water is being redeveloped as a new hub for London. The Canada Water master plan includes 2,700 new homes on 40 acres of land with office, retail and leisure space, a central landscaped plaza to host events, a state-of-the-art library with community centre, cafes, restaurants and shops.
