Morris Homes is holding a first-time buyer event this week to give househunters in Leicester advice on buying their first home in the city.

The event on Thursday 19th September will take place at the Peepul Centre on Orchardson Avenue from 4pm until 8pm.

Sales advisors from Morris’ nearby Abbey Quarter development will be available to talk about the two and three bedroom homes currently on sale at the Abbey Park Road development. An Independent Financial Advisor will also be at the event to offer mortgage advice and explain more about the schemes available to first-time buyers, such as Help to Buy.

The Help to Buy scheme means that buyers only need to put down five per cent of the value of the home as a deposit, which the Government tops up with an equity loan of a further 20 per cent of the value of the property. With a combined deposit of 25 per cent buyers are in a better position to secure a wider range of mortgages with lower interest rates.

Cindy Cade, regional sales director for Morris, said: “This event is a great way for first-time buyers to find out more about our properties in Leicester and how schemes such as Help to Buy can make the move into home ownership more affordable.

“Buying your first home can be a daunting process and the large deposits needed to secure a property can often delay buyers from taking the first step onto the property ladder. We want househunters to know that there is help out there and make sure they are prepared.”

Morris has a range of two and three-bedroom homes on sale at Abbey Quarter, from £144,750 or £115,800 with Help to Buy.
