Queen Elizabeth Park's Chobham Manor Masterplan is given approval

Chobham Manor, the first residential neighbourhood planned for Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London, has taken a major step forward after the Zonal Masterplan for the scheme was approved.

Chobham Manor will form part of the Legacy Community Scheme, London Legacy Development Corporation’s park-wide masterplan for five new neighbourhoods and will see the development of approximately 850 homes by leading national homebuilder Taylor Wimpey and London & Quadrant (L&Q), one of London’s largest residential developers.

The Park’s planning authority has now approved the Zonal Masterplan, which gives Taylor Wimpey and L&Q the green light to submit a detailed planning application for the first phase of homes at Chobham Manor.

Dennis Hone, Chief Executive, London Legacy Development Corporation, said: “The approval of the Zonal Masterplan is a significant milestone for Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The detailed planning application for the first homes at Chobham Manor is now being prepared and will be submitted later this month. Subject to its approval the first plots will go on sale in 2014 with people moving in the following year.”

Located between the East Village and Lee Valley VeloPark, Chobham Manor will help to address the local need for family-size homes, with 75 per cent of properties having three or more bedrooms.

Three large, distinct areas of green open space will run through the heart of the neighbourhood, while a series of smaller public open spaces will provide safe places to relax and play. Residents will also benefit from shops and community facilities on their doorstep.
