Renters moving East for value for money

Young professionals looking for good value for money rental homes are flocking to Stratford in East London, as the area’s appeal continues to grow as a result of its Olympic regeneration legacy. Victoria moved into a two-bedroom rented home at Stratford Halo, the landmark new development from Genesis overlooking the Olympic Park in July.

Victoria, 28, had previously been living in Islington and it was apparent how much more she could get for her money in Stratford. She has been renting in London for ten years and does hope to buy a home in the future.

Victoria says: “I wanted to rent a new build home of a high standard and realised how much more I could get in terms of space in Stratford compared to other parts of London, such as Islington where I lived before. I want to stay at Stratford Halo for at least the next couple of years until I can afford to buy a home. It is hard to save money while living in London, you have to sacrifice that for living the lifestyle, but Stratford ticks all the boxes for me.”

With Stratford’s excellent public transport links, Victoria enjoys an easy commute to Oxford Circus where she works in advertising for a magazine. Victoria was able to afford to rent a two bedroom home on her own, which means she has space for guests to stay, rather than a flat share which she had done in the past. Her home is on the 11th floor with fantastic views over the Olympic Stadium and London skyline.

Victoria continues: “Stratford’s transport connections are definitely a huge benefit of living here, not to mention living so close to Westfield Centre for the shopping and restaurants.”

Victoria has settled into living somewhere with plenty of added extras. Stratford Halo offers the first homes available under Genesis’s new private rental service which is introducing high quality new build rental homes in some of London's most iconic new developments, accompanied by a whole raft of added extras not usually found a typical rental property. Each resident benefits from access to a dedicated property manager and a 24-hour concierge, as well as on-site residents gym and super high speed broadband included. She comments: “The concierge and management have been very helpful – there is always someone around if you need to ask a question. Everything that you could want is here for the taking – its easy living which caters perfectly for my lifestyle.”

Prices for properties currently available to rent at the Stratford halo development start from £1,300 per month for a one bedroom apartment, £1,700 per month for a 2 bedroom apartment. Three bedroom apartments and penthouses are also available. To arrange a viewing visit genesishahomes.org.uk/for-rent/stratford-halo.
