Local househunters flocked to the launch of a new homes development in Diss last weekend, with two of the properties snapped up on opening day.

Persimmon Homes opened Greenacres, on Denmark Lane, to a warm welcome from buyers keen to take advantage of pre-showhome prices and to get their pick of the plots.

Sales advisor Anne Jackson said: “We were very busy on Saturday, with lots of visitors keen to come in and look at the plans and reserve the houses they liked, even though the showhome won’t be opening for a few more weeks.

“We sold a two bedroom house and a two bedroom bungalow straight away and I’m expecting a call back later in the week to reserve another of the bungalows. These are proving very popular with local buyers so I think they will be snapped up quickly.

“Several more people have already registered interest in the bigger family homes that will be released for sale later in the year.”

Greenacres is the final phase of a development partially constructed by another builder before Persimmon was able to take over the plans in order to complete the site.

Anne said: “A lot of people commented on how pleased they were that the development had re-started and that we are going to finished it all off now.

“When everything is completed, with all the roads and gardens and a large area of public open space it will really improve this part of the town, instead of people looking out on an unfinished site.”

Alison Page, head of sales and marketing for Persimmon Homes Anglia, said: “Because of its history there has been a lot of interest in this site, so we expected a busy opening weekend and we were not disappointed.

“We have had people asking about our Home Change package, which uses our experience and contacts to market their existing property for them, making it easier and cheaper to move up the property ladder.

“And the Help To Buy scheme continues to be popular with househunters as you only need a five per cent deposit with the Government contributing a loan for twenty per cent of the purchase price.

“These schemes, together with the attractive house types we have on offer, are making Greenacres a popular choice for local buyers.”

Prices at Greenacres start at £152,950 for a two bedroom house.
