Leading local housebuilder Taylor Wimpey East Midlands has helped local people by investing £189,000 in the local community as part of its new homes development in Leicester Forest East.

Grangewood Manor is a sought-after new collection of high-quality homes which is currently under construction off Beggars Lane, and Taylor Wimpey has provided the funding to Leicestershire County Council and Blaby District Council for improvements to existing facilities, services and infrastructure in the area.

The investment forms part of the planning agreement with the local authority which will ultimately see community funding totalling nearly £600,000 provided by the housebuilder during the lifetime of the development.

The £189,000 payment includes a contribution of £129,000 towards education provision, £33,000 towards public transport and £22,000 for improving local highways.

Dominic Harman, Managing Director of Taylor Wimpey East Midlands, says: “This investment reflects our belief that building new homes is about more than just providing high-quality properties for people to live in – it is about giving homebuyers the chance to be part of a thriving and sustainable community.

“Our contributions totalling £189,000 towards improving facilities, services and infrastructure will benefit not only our customers at Grangewood Manor, but also existing residents of Leicester Forest East. This is part of Taylor Wimpey’s ongoing commitment to the future of the communities where we build.”

There’s currently a wide selection of new homes available to purchase at Grangewood Manor, including three-bedroom terraced houses from just £202,995, four-bedroom detached properties from only £309,995 and magnificent five-bedroom designs from £459,995.

The Help to Buy scheme is also on offer at the development, which means eligible first-time buyers and those with a property to sell can secure a Government loan for 20% of the price of their ideal home – so they only require a 75% loan-to-value mortgage and a deposit as low as 5%. Help to Buy is available with new-build properties up to the value of £600,000 and there is no income cap for purchasers taking advantage of the scheme.

Grangewood Manor lies within easy reach of a wealth of local village amenities for everyday needs including two pubs, shops, a library, a post office, two medical centres, a dental surgery and a convenience store, plus two private golf clubs.

Just four miles from home is Leicester city centre for a host of shopping, leisure and entertainment opportunities, including one of the region’s premier retail destinations at Highcross. Further shopping opportunities are also available just two-and-a-half miles away at Fosse Park.

For commuters, the new homes have an enviable position close to the A47 for quick links to the city centre, Hinckley and Birmingham. Grangewood Manor is just a mile-and-a-half from park-and-ride bus services into Leicester city centre, while Junction 21 of the M1, and the M69, are just three miles away.

Leicester railway station is a little over four miles from home for services to London St Pancras International, Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield, Leeds and Birmingham.
