French VIPs to visit Norfolk development
The Mayor of a small French village north of Paris is set to visit a new housing development in Norfolk where a road has been named in its honour.
On Saturday, June 7, Gerald Rutault, the Mayor of Maurecourt, will visit The Pastures in Brundall, a new development of two, three and four bedroom properties from Persimmon Homes.
The Mayor, along with Alex Baratella (President of the Maurecourt Twinning Association) and his committee, and the committee of the Brundall Twinning Association, will be special guests of Persimmon Homes to see the unveiling of the newly named Maurecourt Drive, a link road through the development.
Brundall twinned with Maurecourt in 1980, and since then the two villages have enjoyed annual visits. Last year, 45 members of the Norfolk association visited the village in the Île-de-France region, where they stayed with host families and visited attractions including The Palace of Versailles.
Chairman of the Brundall Twinning Association, Bob Stevenson, said: “We have a packed itinerary for our 50 French visitors, including a medieval banquet at The Three Tuns in Bungay, and I am sure our French friends will appreciate the unveiling of the Maurecourt Drive sign, organised to coincide with the visit.
“We are delighted that Persimmon Homes has liaised with Brundall Parish Council to name the road after our French counterparts, and hope that the Mayor and our VIP guests enjoy seeing their town commemorated at The Pastures.”
