Proposals to create a new housing development in Rainhill have been given the go-ahead by St Helens Council, which will see Countryside deliver a collection of 89 new high quality homes on the former Oak Tyres site on Warrington Road.

Countryside will now begin building work to deliver the collection of two, three and four-bedroom detached and semi-detached luxury homes, which are expected to be released for sale in September this year.

The new development is to be named Stephenson Grove in homage to Stephenson’s Rocket – the world’s first steam locomotive, selected in the 1829 Rainhill Trials. It will also mark the release of Countryside’s newest range of house designs.

Each of the homes has been designed to blend traditional build styles with contemporary open-plan interior layouts, maximising light and space, making them perfect for modern family living.

Fulfilling Countryside’s commitment to providing affordable and stress-free home buying, Stephenson Grove will be available through a range of home buying initiatives, including Countryside’s own Part Exchange scheme.

Each of the new homes will also be available through the government-backed Help to Buy scheme, through which buyers need only contribute a small deposit of 5% whilst receiving an equity-free loan of up to 20%.

Peter Vella, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Countryside, commented: “We are delighted to have received planning approval for Stephenson Grove and the response we have had to our proposals is evidence of the local appetite for high quality new homes in Rainhill.

“Months of planning and design consultation have successfully brought us to a point where we are preparing to begin building work at the development, which will provide the St Helens property market with a fresh selection of exceptional new homes with an affordable price tag.”
