Seat sales forge ahead in 2006

9th October 2006 Print
Seat Leon More and more customers are discovering the style and sportiness of SEAT’s range of cars, with UK sales up by over 15% during the first nine months of this year. This is particularly good news for the brand when viewed in the context of a declining UK new car market, down by 3.55% over the same period.

All models have performed well, though the Leon is the real star this year. With sales up by 49%, bolstered by the arrival of the all-important FR models during July, the Leon is set to finish the year as SEAT UK’s top selling model for the first time.

The revised Ibiza has also been finding large numbers of buyers, attracted by its sporty styling, notable value and appealing dynamics, while the Altea continues to increase sales, up by 34% year-to-date compared with the same period in 2005.

Alhambra and Toledo enjoyed a strong September, both recording their highest sales in any one month this year.

Commenting on SEAT UK’s sales performance, Director Peter Wyhinny said: ‘It’s small wonder that SEAT goes from strength to strength in the UK, even in such a competitive marketplace – our latest range of cars offers a sporty and distinctive alternative in most volume sectors of the market, delivering great value for money and strong whole life costs for fleets. The Leon in particular is storming ahead compared with its rivals – and there’s more to come, with the 240 PS Cupra due out early next year.’
