Seat is turning its attention to the silver screen this summer, as it sponsors the inaugural Ibiza and Formentera International Film Festival, which runs from 29th May to 7th June.

The festival was officially presented last week in Madrid, at the Spanish Academy of Arts and Film Sciences, and was attended by Academy director Ana Arrieta, IFF Film Festival director Javier Benlloch, Spanish actors José Coronado and Cayetana Guillén Cuervo, and SEAT Spain Marketing Director Mar Aycart.

SEAT is providing a fleet of 20 specially prepared cars – including the Alhambra, Toledo and Altea XL – for transfers of organisation members and assistants. These will be invaluable, as the Festival venues include several cities throughout Ibiza and Formentera, including Sant Antoni, Santa Eularia, Sant Joan and Sant Josep.

There will be 54 film showings daily with a spectator capacity of 4,000. A total of 500 projections over the 10-day duration of the Festival should result in an estimated total audience of around 200,000.

In addition to the films being shown, there will be a number of discussion groups taking place, attended by visiting professionals and cinema experts. All winners will receive the Golden Falcon, inspired by the movie Maltese Falcon, directed by John Huston in 1941.

Mar Aycart, SEAT Spain Marketing Director, said: ‘With this initiative in the world of cinema, SEAT wishes to contribute to promoting the island of Ibiza, with allusion to one of our best-selling models, and make this festival a point of reference at a time when Spain, the Balearic Islands and Spanish cinema are especially attractive to millions of visitors and viewers from all five continents.’
