David Wilson starts work on luxury homes at Mount Oswald, Durham

David Wilson Homes has started work on a development of 60 luxury homes at Mount Oswald, on the outskirts of Durham City.

The four and five-bedroom detached properties have been designed especially for the location and will be built at the southern end of the site.

They form the first phase of a £200 million scheme for Mount Oswald by Durham-based, family-owned developer The Banks Group, which includes an education quarter, a range of community facilities and new public open spaces.

Mike Roberts, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes North East, said: “We are delighted to be working with the Banks Group on this landmark scheme.

“Although we only recently started on site, it has attracted huge interest and we expect demand to be high.

“This will be a low-density development of high-quality family homes set in beautiful parkland.

“They will feature bespoke designs, inspired by local architectural styles and materials, in keeping with Mount Oswald’s prime location.

“We believe it will be one of the finest new homes developments in the region.”

Banks recently reached an agreement with Durham University for the purchase of another part of the Mount Oswald development, and discussions around other elements of the site are ongoing.
