Seat Altea XL SEAT UK is giving its backing to the inaugural National Family Week – which kicks off on Bank Holiday Monday (25 May) with a variety of exciting events nationwide including an audacious attempt on an official Guinness World Record.

SEAT is an official partner of National Family Week and is the first motor manufacturer to support the initiative.

Several of the Spanish marque’s UK dealers will be taking part in a record-breaking picnic attempt on Monday when they will join scores of official venues nationwide, including Regent’s Park in London, bidding to set a new Guinness World Record for the globe’s largest simultaneous picnic. SEAT is also giving away a brace of Altea XLs – among its most popular and practical family cars– as part of the event. Working in conjunction with ITV 1’s This Morning and The Daily Mail, SEAT is supporting National Family Week by offering its capacious family five-seater in two easy-to-enter competitions.

The inaugural National Family Week is a new national occasion to celebrate all that’s good in family life. It takes place 25-31 May and features a jam-packed schedule of more than 2,000 events, activities and competitions run across the country to bring families together.

Commercial partners such as SEAT UK are supporting the largest coalition on family issues in the UK with more than 150 charities, community groups, statutory bodies, schools, sporting and faith networks coming together to celebrate family life.

National Family Week aims to help create a more family-friendly culture in the UK and the initiative offers non-profit organisations, town and city councils and community groups a celebratory national occasion through which to promote their family-friendly activities for free.

Celebrity supporters of the initiative include Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, Rebecca Adlington, Colleen Nolan, Trisha Goddard, Antony Worrell Thomson, Sally Gunnell, Professor Tanya Byron and Janet Ellis. They are joining the country’s leading politicians; business leaders and hundreds of national organisations to celebrate family life in the UK.

Steve Robertson, Head of Marketing at SEAT UK, said: ‘When we were approached by the organisers of National Family Week we jumped at the opportunity to get involved with such a worthwhile initiative.

‘Offering two Altea XLs as prizes in competitions supporting National Family Week makes sense, too, since the car is ideally suited to the needs of families large and small.’
