A Redrow venture in Widnes is offering those new to the property market the perfect opportunity to step onto the housing ladder.

Barrow’s Green in Widnes, within easy reach of both Liverpool and Manchester, has a fantastic selection of three-bedroom homes ideal for first-time buyers.

What’s more, the government’s Help to Buy scheme is available on all of the homes. The scheme has now helped over 48,000 UK homebuyers since April 2013 - 82% of whom were first-time buyers - and helps to make homes more affordable for those who may not have a substantial deposit.

The three-bedroom ‘Broadway’ and ‘Evesham 3’ designs are perfect for young couples and families as, along with the lounge and dining area and separate kitchen downstairs, two of the three bedrooms are doubles, one of which boasts an en suite.

Prices at Barrow’s Green start from £159,995 for an ‘Evesham 3’ and using the Help to Buy scheme, the initial purchase price could be reduced to £127,996 with a deposit potentially as little as £8,000.

Elaine Mounsey, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (NW), said: “Widnes is a great spot for families and young professionals and the Evesham and Broadway homes would make a great first purchase. There’s also the three-bedroom Letchworth housetype available so there’s plenty of choice at Barrow’s Green.

“The Help to Buy scheme has proven itself to be working for first-time buyers so we’d urge those interested to come and take a look at the new homes and see if the scheme could help them too.”

Help to Buy includes an equity loan for up to 20% of the purchase price. That then reduces the initial outlay and means that buyers typically only need a 5% deposit. The remaining 75% is then covered by a mortgage.

Part of the Cheshire borough of Halton, Widnes has become an increasingly fashionable place for homebuyers in recent years.

Work has just started on the Mersey Gateway Project, which will provide residents with a second Mersey crossing by autumn 2017 between Runcorn and Widnes , meanwhile they can already enjoy the recently opened £40m Tesco Extra and the New Widnes Shopping Park.
