Bellway offer key workers in Northumberland homes at 80% market value

26th September 2014 Print

Key workers in Northumberland are to be offered homes at 80% discount to market value arising from a planning agreement between Bellway Homes and Northumberland County Council.

17 homes on Bellway’s Wheatridge Park development off Astley Road in Seaton Delaval have been earmarked for the scheme and the first four have now been released for sale.

The initiative prioritises people who have lived in Northumberland for at least two years, and further prioritises key workers such as NHS clinical staff, teachers, police officers and fire fighters.

The scheme also provides that the homes will remain at 80% open market value even when they are re-sold in years to come.

Rob Armstrong, sales director at Bellway Homes, said: “This is a unique scheme and will provide more affordable homes in perpetuity. Unlike other housing initiatives this is not a shared equity scheme, who ever buys these homes will have full ownership from day one.”

The homes being offered start in price from £88,000 and would normally have been sold at £112,500 each home provides two bedrooms and 647 sq ft of living space.
