£1m deal for Edinburgh business

An Edinburgh business has strengthened its links with a Scottish hire solutions provider in a deal worth £1 million.

Gordon Anderson Plant (GAP) has introduced Volkswagen Crafter dropside vehicles to its national fleet, which were supplied by Volkswagen Van Centre Edinburgh.

More than 70 per cent of GAP’s fleet is now Volkswagen and the firm plans to convert its remaining vehicles to the brand over the coming years.

Bobby Allan, fleet disposal and transport manager at GAP, said: “The brand’s quality build and low running costs, combined with the service from the Edinburgh team, gave us the confident to choose a single brand provider for our needs.”

GAP Group, based in Glasgow, hires a full range of products from plant and tools, including operated plant and heavy plant, to more specialised equipment and vehicles to the construction industry.

The family-run business operates a fleet of Caddy, Transporter, Crafter and now, Crafter dropside vans from its 94 depots across the UK.

“Our vehicles cover the entire UK so it wasn’t just a solid dependable vehicle with good residual values that helped make our decision. We needed a nationwide service network to maintain the vehicles, which is what Volkswagen can give us,” added Bobby.

“The recent Crafter dropside order is a small percentage of our ongoing relationship with Edinburgh van centre. As we have worked with them for many years we know they understand our needs and can comfortably meet our deadlines and requirements.”
