Impressive MC ground work leads to HGH Groundwork’s first Volvo

HGH Groundwork’s new Volvo FH12 8x4, used to carry converted shipping containers and plant. The work put in by Volvo Dealer MC Truck & Bus in Burgess Hill, and New Truck Salesman Dave Hutchins in particular, has led West Sussex-based HGH Groundworks Ltd to buy their first-ever Volvo truck, an FH12 8x4 rigid.

“Dave Hutchins was brilliant for us,” says HGH Director Perry Morgan. “We had a lot of demands both in terms of the chassis and the bodywork and he was able to work with us to get exactly what we wanted. Ride height and versatility were key for us and Volvo were able to supply a truck that met our requirements. I was especially impressed by the I-Shift gearbox too, when out on a road test – very smooth.”

The truck has been specified with a Day cab in ‘Comfort’ trim, 380bhp engine, the automated I-Shift gearbox, reversing camera with pop-up monitor and is plated for 32 tonne GVW operation. The bodywork was supplied by Andover Trailers and features removable drop sides and fold flat ramps for versatility, as well as Palfinger PK4250D crane with a lifting capacity of 2440 kgs at 14.3 metres.

Operating from HGH Groundworks’ Washington, West Sussex base, the truck will be used to transport shipping containers which have been converted into tool and plant stores and mobile offices, as well as small plant and on-site materials on behalf of their customers.
