Vanguard Healthcare put £1m+ worth of trust in Volvo Vanguard Healthcare Solutions, operators of the world’s largest fleet of mobile operating theatres, have bought a Volvo FH12 6x2 double drive tractor unit to transport a new mobile endoscopy/day surgery unit worth in excess of £1m around the UK from their Colchester base in Essex.

"Volvo’s reliability as a truck and the service provided by their Dealers is excellent and meant we had no problem entrusting our highly specialised theatres and equipment to them," says Vanguard’s Transport Manager Alf Taylor. "I have always preferred Volvo over any other make for those reasons."

Vanguard’s high profile image is reflected in the high specification of the 460bhp artic, which features a Globetrotter XL cab in ‘Comfort’ trim, double bunks, CD/radio player, integrated telephone, 25-litre fridge, polished Alcoa aluminium wheels, roof beacon bar and chassis side skirts.

The endoscopy/day surgery unit is transported on a Broshaus 4-axle extendable trailer and features hydraulic legs which enable it to lift itself on and off the trailer, remaining level and secure, when being delivered.

The truck was bought from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia in Ipswich and will be maintained at Volvo depots across the country, as required.
