Volvo ship into new Immingham Dock

Volvo Logistics have entered into a long term agreement with ro-ro ferry operators Ferryways – owned by the Mediterranean Shipping Company - which will see Volvo trucks imported into Britain to the Exxtor Terminal owned and operated by Associated British Ports (ABP) at the Port of Immingham, Lincolnshire.

Speaking about the deal Volvo Logistics’ Managing Director Kevin Smyth said: "This new service will enhance both the precision and performance of the door to door distribution service we offer to Volvo Trucks."

Ferryways will transport Volvo trucks built at their facility in Gent, Belgium, on nine weekly sailings from Ostend to Immingham where ABP will deliver them to Volvo Trucks’ UK distributor. The terminal will handle approximately 24,000 Volvo trucks and cars in the first year, with the figure set to grow over time.

This latest development will enhance that situation for Volvo customers in the UK and Ireland," says Volvo Trucks’ Truck Operations Manager Chris Carr.
