Marks & Spencer is one of the first major UK companies to place an order for the latest generation Volvo FM’s with Euro 4 emissions compliant engines featuring SCR technology. The order is for 50 Euro 4 FM-400 4x2 Globetrotter-cabbed tractor units, which will be operated by Gist on behalf of Marks & Spencer and will be in the retailer’s own livery. All were supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre Midlands and have been specified with Volvo’s I-Shift driver-friendly transmission. They will be based at RDCs at Thatcham and Bristol and they will be engaged on store deliveries, supplier collection and trunking.

Marks & Spencer cite the environmentally responsible attitude of Volvo as well as the manufacturer’s overall product and support package as important factors in its decision to purchase the FM’s. The expected fuel consumption benefits of SCR versus EGR was the main factor in the decision to choose the former.

The Volvo’s are fitted with standard 60-litre AdBlue tanks, sufficient for a range of around 3,000 miles.
