Volvo staff say goodbye to the last ‘FL’

Volvo staff say goodbye to the last ‘FL’ During an emotional ceremony on Thursday 22nd June 2006, the last "FL" rolled off the production line in Gent to mark the end of another successful era for Volvo Trucks’ Belgian truck plant.

Fittingly, one of the last ‘FL’ trucks to be completed was built for the Belgian company, Q-Bakeries of Heusden-Zolder. The company, which began in 1979 as the Quintens family bakery, now has branches in Heusden-Zolder, Asse, Diest Ardooie and Morlanwelz and has over 500 employees. The Heusden-Zolder branch currently owns 22 ‘FL’ trucks.

The old ‘FL’ will now make way for its successors, the new Volvo ‘FL’ and ‘FE’ light-to-medium truck ranges, launched to critical acclaim last May.

Full production of the new trucks is expected to commence this September, with the first trucks being delivered to customers the following month.
