The family-owned company has operated Volvo’s since 1988 and currently has 6 new-generation FH’s all hauling a variety of high-quality, locally produced food products, many of which are destined for deli-counters.

Two drivers share duties in each truck, something which owner Gary Hill believes helps keep the vehicles in their trademark spotless condition throughout their fleet life of around five years. Founded in 1987 by Gary’s late father Rex, the firm operates outbased vehicles from a manufacturing site at the heart of the county. However, Gary explains that the rural location does not present any challenges as they are within a short drive of the M54 motorway for access to the M6 and the M5. The main trunk routes to Chester and South Wales are also close at hand.

The intensity of the operation results in high mileages with some vehicles achieving up to 200,000 kms each year. Dealer back-up is therefore of vital importance and Gary is pleased with Volvo Dealer Hartshorne Motor Services at Shrewsbury who supplied and also maintains the trucks.

He cites Volvo’s high standard of build-quality and support from the Dealer Network as paramount in clinching his decision to operate the FH’s. Says Gary, "We have to deliver a very reliable service to our customers. Likewise, we’ve always found Volvo’s to be reliable and the build-quality is very good. The back-up is also second-to-none with excellent Parts and Service support."
