Hallett Silbermann 150 tonne FH Heavy Hauler takes on 70 tonne Volvo Excavator

The 70 tonne EC700BLC, which features the latest Volvo D16C 16-litre engine at 424 bhp, is moved between customers by the Hatfield-based heavy-haulage specialist firm using the self-escorted 520hp FH coupled to a variety of specialist plant-haulage trailers, including a 4-axle Faymonville low-loader with remote-control rear-steer for manoeuvring in tight access situations.
The 3400mm (11 feet 3 inch) wide tracks of the excavator cause no problems for Hallett Silbermann for whom this is a typical load. Sales Director Jon Hugill says. “We have been associated with Volvo Trucks and Volvo Construction Equipment for many years and have been operating Volvo trucks since the early 1970’s and are very pleased with the quality of the product. The latest Volvo FH 8x4 Heavy Haulage tractor-units provide us with the optimum axle-weights and weight distribution for STGO CAT 3 operation and the back-up from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London at Brimsdown, Enfield, is very good.”
When not carrying the EC700BLC, the FH is used to transport heavy piling equipment reports Jon Hugill.
