Volvo Trucks increases significantly in Eastern Europe

21st November 2006 Print
The new FL and FE trucks have contributed strongly to Volvo Trucks’ success during October. The new trucks have contributed strongly to Volvo Trucks’ success during October. In total, deliveries to Europe increased by 14 per cent and amounted to 39,072 vehicles (34,253).

In Europe, demand was strong. The great economic growth in Eastern Europe and growing trade between East and West means an increase in the need for truck transport. The new product programme with reduced fuel consumption has received a very positive reception. In Europe 27 (i.e. the EU countries plus Norway and Switzerland), deliveries increased by 9 per cent to 31,297 vehicles (28,772). In Eastern Europe (i.e. countries outside the EU), deliveries increased by 42 per cent (7,775).

On the North American market, deliveries rose by 17 per cent during October. The number of delivered trucks totalled 31,223 vehicles (26,702), however the strong demand is related to an early-purchase effect prior to the impending US07 exhaust emission regulations. Consequently, demand is expected to decline drastically during the first half of 2007.

In the International division (i.e. South America, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia) demand is relatively stable. For South America, deliveries declined by 4 per cent and totalled 6,388 trucks (6,681). In Asia - excluding the Middle East - an increase of 7 per cent was registered, and the number of delivered trucks totalled 3,013 vehicles (2,817).

The total number of delivered vehicles amounted to 85,337 (85,366), which is at the same level as last year.
