Volvo’s ‘excellent performance’ tipped by King Transport

The Chelmsford firm has operated Volvo’s since the mid-nineties and owner Mick King reports that the new trucks - which are running in Hanson livery - are hauling sand, gravel and asphalt coated stone out of a new plant at Bulls Lodge Quarry, where his company is the main haulier.
The new 8x4 tippers join a brace of Volvo FH tractor units in a mixed fleet of 31 trucks of five different makes. Despite being two-years old, Mick King reports that he cannot fault the Volvo tractors, saying. “The FH’s don’t have any bad points at all so far.” He is quick to praise the FM’s too and reports that the drivers are very happy with the new additions to the fleet. “At 20 tonnes, payload is competitive”, adds Mick.
Specification of the ‘Comfort’ trim, Day-cab FM’s includes Volvo’s manual 14-speed gearbox and B-ride rear-suspension. The foam insulated bodywork is from Wilcox with Hyva tipping cylinder and hydraulics.
Volvo Dealer MC Truck & Bus supplied the trucks and also provide Parts and Service back-up from their Witham depot.
