Winter Breaks in an Irish Castle

3rd November 2014 Print
Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel

In a hillside position overlooking Dublin Bay and dating back to 1740, Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel is a grand yet welcoming choice for winter breaks by car with Irish Ferries.

Three nights at this four-star hotel before 20 December, including accommodation in a double room, ‘the full Irish’ breakfast each morning and return cruise ferry crossings for a car and two people is only £388, or £194 per person.  Stay an extra night for only £106 per couple.

The castle’s original dungeons house the informal Grill restaurant, with formal dining at PJ’s and the Library Bar open til late. Leisure facilities include an indoor pool, spa and steam room.

Killiney Golf Club and the seafront are both close by, and it’s a short stroll to the chic seaside village of Dalkey – home to Bono and The Edge among umpteen famous residents – and it’s from here that guests can catch a DART commuter train into Dublin city centre just 14kms away.

Dublin Christmas lights switch on from 13 November, the Dublin Book Festival runs 13-16 November and December concerts at Dublin’s O2 arena include Morrisey, Elton John, Peter Gabriel and Manic Street Preachers.
