Affordable homes to fly the nest in Colindale

Recent research conducted by housing charity Shelter shows that one in four working 20-34 year olds are still living with their parents, citing lack of affordable housing as one of the main reasons for not flying the nest. For young city workers looking to spread their wings and get onto the property ladder, Genesis’ brand new development Zenith House in the heart of Colindale, NW9, is a perfect example of affordable homes in the capital.

Colindale, which lies in the London Borough of Barnet, has been identified for its potential for being a major area for regeneration and growth over the next decade, ideal for first time buyers looking for an enviable commute and great local amenities. The development is within one mile of Colindale tube station, which lies on the Northern Line and offers direct trains into The City in just 33 minutes, and will also boast 24 hour services on weekends from next September.

“The results of the research by Shelter show a growing trend and illustrate the need for more affordable housing in the UK.” says Anthony Harker, Head of Commercial for Genesis. “In Colindale, Genesis is working with The London Borough of Barnet to build a sustainable community and provide a great selection of affordable homes in the capital. Zenith House has ideal starter homes for the ‘clipped wing’ generation, and offers high spec homes without the high price tag”.

Zenith House is an ongoing landmark development by Genesis, and offers everything you would expect from one of London’s biggest and most successful housing associations.

Zenith House is situated on Edgware Road, and sees a total of 308 new homes in a wide range of property types across several buildings. The flagship 16-storey tower offers sweeping views of London, and boasts high quality interior specification. Zenith House includes the latest in green technology, including photovoltaic panels, green roofs and superior insulation. The development also benefits from gated security, secure underground parking (at an additional cost) and a video entry system to each home.

As part of the continuing regeneration Genesis has been doing in the Colindale area, Genesis also has Vision, the latest phase at its New Hendon Village development. With 20 homes in a range of property types currently available to purchase off plan ready for occupation later this year, Vision is part of a vibrant new community. The contemporary homes offer a high specification, with video door entry systems and CCTV, as well as designated secure bicycle storage.

Colindale is a thriving quarter of North London, with local shops, eateries and leisure facilities all within easy reach of Zenith House and Vision. Nearby Brent Cross has been earmarked for a share of a £4.5bn regeneration scheme, and is already home to a large shopping centre with over 120 shops including John Lewis and Waitrose.

Vision and Zenith House are located approximately one mile from Colindale underground station on the Edgware branch of the Northern Line. Edgware is seven minutes away by tube, Brent Cross five minutes and Bank just 33 minutes. Nearby Mill Hill Broadway, less than two miles from both developments, is the nearest Overground station, and there are many regular bus routes in the local area, which serve Vision, Zenith House and the Colindale community.

At Zenith House, guide prices for a one bedroom apartment start from £265,000. Meanwhile prices at Vision start from £310,000 for a two bedroom apartment. Prices are subject to change. For further information, visit genesishahomes.org.uk.
