New Year - new marque for J. Dickinson & Sons

After operating other marques for over 70 years, Managing Director James Dickinson has decided to try Volvo. He commented “We had been in the market for a new skip loader for some time, looking for a reliable truck which could perform well under pressure.”
A number of rival marques were tested and it was Volvo who came out on top, “It was my drivers who preferred Volvo compared to other marques,” James commented before adding, “They thought Volvo were very comfortable and very easy to drive.”
James’ choice, a Volvo FM, 400bhp 8x4 skip loader with Volvo’s own automated I-shift gearbox, is plated for 32 tonne GCW and specified with a Day cab in ‘Fleet’ trim.
James commented, “It is the first time we have purchased a vehicle with an automated transmission system, but we have found it extremely easy to adapt to.”
The vehicle will be serviced and maintained at Thomas Hardie Commercials in Preston, where it was purchased from Area Sales Manager, Darren Newton.
James stated, “Thomas Hardie’s have a reputation for providing an exceptional back-up service.” He added that, “This was one of the main reasons why we purchased the vehicle from them.”
The vehicle will be based at J. Dickinson & Son’s state of the art re-cycling centre in Horwich, near Bolton. It can be seen across the north-west as it assists with the company’s main services of re-cycling.
J. Dickinson & Sons Ltd is a family owned and operated business. With over 70 years experience they offer a comprehensive range of transport, re-cycling, skip hire and waste disposal services.
