Space is at a premium in our homes, especially when it comes to the garage. Once dedicated to keeping prized cars safe from the elements, a survey from Co-operative Insurance found the most common alternative use for a garage is storage, although many have or are considering converting them into offices, workshops or even an extra bedroom.

Strutt & Parker, appointed by Millgate at its new Highcroft development, has found that a garage is the second most desirable feature for house hunters with a shed or outbuildings also a popular must-have. The collection of three five-bedroom detached homes at Highcroft are completed to exquisite specification in a tranquil area of Farnham, which boasts plenty of space throughout the home, so buyers can be assured that they won’t need to convert the garage.

Jonathan Cranley, Sales and Marketing Director of Millgate explains: “After tremendous success with our previous development, Tattingstone, we are very pleased to return to Farnham to deliver yet another superior collection of homes that mirror the adjacent Georgian properties in the area. Having launched on the 16th May, buyers can be assured that these homes situated in a gated development boast an abundance of living and storage space, as well as the added benefit of a garage, which buyers are prioritising more than ever.”

Roger Wade at Strutt & Parker comments: “Highcroft occupies a prime south Farnham location, less than a mile from the mainline station, an ideal setting for families and commuters. Each house will provide fantastic living space with a stunning open plan kitchen and beautifully landscaped southerly facing gardens. We are very familiar with the outstanding quality and attention to detail that is synonymous with a Millgate home, and we are confident that these homes will be very popular.”

The carefully designed five bedroom homes at the gated development of Highcroft enjoy all the pleasures of country living in an idyllic market town, surrounded by stunning scenery. Edgerton House is a superb Georgian inspired, three storey, detached house set within southerly aspect landscaped gardens – affording seclusion and tranquillity in equal measure.

Beaufort House offers the perfect blend of versatile living space and traditional country refinement whilst Glenwood House achieves a rare blend of timeless appeal, behind the Portland stone detailing this classically styled house which bears all the hallmarks of a truly exceptional home.

The kitchens in all three properties feature a comprehensive bespoke range of hand-painted floor and wall cabinets together with granite and composite stone work surfaces, upstands and wooden breakfast bar.

A beautiful Normandy double bowl farmhouse sink is included, whilst appliances are in a natural steel finish and comprise of a Falcon range cooker and extractor hood, an integrated Miele microwave and dishwasher and a Falcon American style fridge/freezer with ice and water and Caple wine chiller. In the utility room a Siemens washing machine and tumble dryer are provided along with a water softener. The bathroom, cloakroom and en suites are equipped with white Villeroy and Boch sanitaryware and contemporary chrome furnishings, whilst bespoke vanity units provide ample storage.

With its boutique shops and High Street stores providing everyday needs, the attractive Georgian market town of Farnham offers the best of everything. Frensham Common, Bourne Wood and Alice Holt Forest are within easy reach, offering daily opportunities for walking, riding and cycling. Sailing is available on Frensham Ponds and the area boasts an excellent choice of golf clubs suitable for every ability, all within a short drive.

Farnham itself is steeped in history, with a 12th century castle, complete with adjoining medieval deer park of 320 acres, which was formally the residence of the Bishops of Winchester for 800 years overlooking the town. Down in the valley, the barrow streets and delightful courtyards are lively and welcoming with a wide variety of shops, restaurants and cafes, pubs and art galleries, many of which are housed in listed buildings of historical interest; Farnham boasts some of the finest Georgian architecture in the south of England.

In addition to the large Waitrose and Sainsbury’s there are regular farmers’ markets, plus the town plays host to a weekly country market and a monthly market at Farnham Maltings, the town’s vibrant community arts centre. Nevertheless, it is ideally situated for the commuter, with its main line station just eight minutes away from Highcroft, and journeys into London Waterloo taking just 54 minutes. On the boundary between Surrey and Hampshire, Farnham is just 12 miles from Guildford and 29 miles from Winchester.

Price guide in excess of £2,000,000 for the five bedroom homes at Highcroft. Properties can now be viewed via the show home, which launched on the 16th May. For more information or to book an appointment, visit millgatehomes.co.uk.
