Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles first quarter results

Total sales of 7,616 vehicles up to the end of March, including the passenger carrying shuttle, Caravelle luxury MPV and California campervan, show a healthy 4.4 per cent increase compared to the first quarter last year.
Registrations of Volkswagen light commercial vehicles in the first quarter increased by 1.4 per cent to 6,590 vehicles, which together with 110 heavy commercials represents a total of 6,700 commercial vehicles, a 2.6 per cent increase over the same quarter last year.
Highlights of the first quarter include the launch of the new Caddy Maxi, which joined the range between the Caddy and Transporter models, and the Crafter, the largest model in the Volkswagen van range, with sales up over 45 per cent compared to the same period last year. The Transporter maintained its position as Volkswagen’s best-selling van in the UK, with the Caddy in a strong second place.
‘We’re proud to have increased the number of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles customers every year for eight years, but we certainly haven’t rested on our laurels. Having started the year with a leading finance and servicing offer for the Transporter, and then introduced the all-new Caddy Maxi in February, the first quarter has certainly been a busy one,’ commented Ralf Schueler, Head of Marketing, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
With the new Transporter Sportline kombi, and other new models still to come, we’re looking forward to increasing the number of new customers enjoying our vans, MPVs and lifestyle vehicles during the rest of the year,’ he continued.
