Official figures released by Bacs today show that Halifax was the most switched to bank on the high street in 2016.

The latest data – published six months in arrears – shows that Halifax gained more new customers in 2016 than any other bank or building society, a net gain of nearly 112,000 new customers.

More than half a million customers have now switched to Halifax since the introduction of the Current Account Switch Service (CASS).

Russell Galley, Managing Director, Halifax said: “I am proud to see Halifax reaching the strong position of most switched to bank in 2016. The Bacs data shows nearly 112,000 new customers chose to bank with us last year. We’re always working hard to deliver great products and service to our customers, helping to make them better off with us.”

Customers who switch to the Halifax Reward Current Account could be eligible for a £125 switching bonus1 paid before the switch completes when using the CASS.
