Home to British Tennis and an impressive catwalk of celebrities, the leafy South-West London Borough of Merton has seen property prices rise by 15% in the last three years. For first time buyers feeling priced out of this prestigious area, L&Q offers a collection of one, two and three bedroom Shared Ownership homes at Morris Court and Nelson Gardens, in Colliers Wood at the heart of this sought after suburb, as well as 50 affordable rental properties.

Senior Merton councillors recently visited the two new 100% affordable developments, led by L&Q Chief Executive, David Montague. Council Leader Stephen Alambritis and Cllr Martin Whelton, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Environment and Housing praised L&Q for delivering an “imaginative development” in the borough.

David Montague, Chief Executive of L&Q comments: “We are delighted to be working with Merton Council on delivering these new homes in the area. Merton is an exciting borough and the Council always put their residents first. L&Q already has 1,100 homes in Merton and we are working together to provide 102 new affordable homes at Nelson Gardens and Morris Court. The homes will give people the first step on the ladder to home ownership. All the homes are completely affordable, to help people on all incomes to have a quality home they can afford.”

Cllr Alambritis comments “We are excited to see these new developments providing affordable homes in the area. We need to meet demand for housing at all levels and it is great to see L&Q providing homes for all sectors of the community. We very much look forward to continuing to work together in the future to meet housing need.”
Cllr Whelton comments “Merton is an ambitious borough, and we are ambitious for our residents. It is so important that we fully utilise the land we have, and we are very much open for business when it comes to this development.”

Morris Court and Nelson Gardens provide a rare opportunity for young professionals and families to purchase an affordable and spacious home in this leafy area of South-West London. Buyers at Morris Court and Nelson Gardens will also benefit from close proximity of both Wandle Park and its glorious botanical gardens, as well as the idyllic Morden Hall Park, offering magnificent greenery and plenty of open spaces.

Perfect for commuters, both developments are only a short walk from Colliers Wood Underground Station, which offers 25 minute journey times into London Bridge and Bank. Additionally, the scheme offers easy access to a number of bus routes, a Cycle Superhighway to the City, and the Phipps Bridge tramlink.

Each apartment can be accessed by video entry phone and has their own private outdoor area. The stylish living spaces are designed to a contemporary specification throughout, bathrooms have a mosaic tile feature wall, while contemporary kitchens benefit from fully integrated appliances.

Prices for Shared Ownership homes at Morris Court start from £102,500 for a 25% share of a one bedroom apartment (full market value £410,000), and from £125,000 for a 25% share of a two bedroom apartment (full market value £500,000), and £162,500 for a 25% share of a three bedroom home (full market value £650,000).
