National Car Rental places significant Daily order

National Car Rental has placed an order for 170 new 3.5 tonne Iveco Daily vans, supplied by Iveco distributor Guest Trucks.

Deliveries are being spread across the second quarter of the year, with the Daily 35S12 vans joining a fleet of over 40,000 vehicles in the UK, which includes over 5,000 light commercials, available to hire from a network of more than 170 branches nationwide.

Tim Bailey, Vice President Fleet at National, explains: “Our relationship with Iveco has developed over the years and whilst overall the brand only makes up a small proportion of our total van fleet, when it comes to 3.5 tonners the Iveco marque accounts for just under a third. This makes Iveco our second biggest supplier of volume in this category.

“Iveco continues to form a key part of our commercial vehicle procurement strategy as the new Daily offers excellent performance characteristics in both the cab and load area. In addition, the Daily adds a fresh face to our fleet whilst maintaining the strong residual values we would expect from Iveco,” he adds.

Like all models in Iveco’s new light commercial vehicle range, the Daily 35S12 benefits from a host of new features including a restyled cab with a slick dash-mounted gearlever, together with newly profiled more supportive seats and additional interior storage space. It also benefits from uprated braking systems which comprise larger ventilated brake discs and both ABS and EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution) sensors, helping to bring the vehicle from 60 to 0 mph in just 42 metres.

The new Iveco Daily’s are available to hire for periods ranging from one day, a week, a month or longer. Each vehicle offers a 12 m³ load carrying capacity, together with a wide sliding side door and twin rear doors offering 270 degree opening, for maximum ease of loading.

The new vehicles are powered by 2.3 litre HPI engines delivering up to 116 hp and built using Iveco’s expertise as the world’s largest manufacturer of diesel engines over 70 hp. The characteristics of this engine ensures Daily is both flexible in traffic and ideal for longer journeys.
